About Wing Tsun Arizona

We teach Leung Ting WingTsun®. The founder, Grandmaster Leung Ting, was the ‘closed door’ student of late Grandmaster Yip Man (Ip Man) after his initial training from Sifu Leung Sheung who was Yip Man’s first Hong Kong student. Wing Tsun AZ’s Sifu, Keith Sonnenberg, is a direct student and the first American student of Grandmaster Leung Ting. He has over 37 years experience in the Leung Ting WingTsun® system.

The Leung Ting WingTsun® system is a southern Chinese kung fu system like wing chun. It is a punching, striking, low kicking and anti-grappling system. Martial arts like Okinawan karate were probably derived from it because of certain similarities but nobody knows for sure. The legend says that it was invented by a female monk from the Shaolin monastery. In the 20th century, Bruce Lee studied from Yip Man. There is no ‘sport’ application. Students learn exacting self-defense skills and mastery of the inner self, mentally and physically. Wing Tsun Arizona is a branch of the International WingTsun Association – North American Section (IWTA-NAS). Member: International WingTsun Association.

Leung Ting WingTsun® is an ultra-efficient, polished version of Yip Man’s art. If you are in reasonably good health, you can continue to enhance your overall health and fitness with WingTsun training. You can develope superb close-range self-defense and fighting skills.

If you have been waiting for something to come along to give you instant gratification, however, Wing Tsun is not that thing. Real martial arts cannot give you that because it takes time for the mind and body to load into it all the mind body connections in order to form new connections so that a student may truly understand the teaching. If, however, you want the learning experience of a true martial art, Wing Tsun is it.
