1) Your first investment in gear should be kung-fu shoes. You can buy these online at Asian World of Martial Arts (cotton soles) or Wing lam Enterprises. Get either cloth bottom (here: https://awma.com/kung-fu-shoes ) or Leung Ting brand leather bottom shoes. HERE: Wing Tsun Kung Fu Shoe – Wing Lam Enterprises (wle.com)
2) Next would be a full-length mirror. You can mount it on a wall or even use a closet mirror for the time being. This way you can monitor your own positions and progress.
3) If you have a training partner, get a nice focus mitt for hitting and even kicking. I recommend the Kwon brand.
4) Get a wall bag mounted on a block wall. It should be three sections (low, middle, high). Fill it with uncooked rice that you can buy in large bags at the grocery store.
5) Get a kicking shield that you can use with a partner. Your partner can hold it while you practice your kicks.
